A notable island of the lagoon where the art of glassmaking developed in the 16th century. We can arrange a visit to one of the famous establishments where you can observe the secret processs of glass-blowing.

Isle of fishermen, famous for brightly-colored houses and for lace-making, of which you will see a brief demonstration.

The first inhabited island of the Venetian lagoon, known primarily for the splendid Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta and for the Church of Santa Fosca.

It was to this small island across from Burano that Saint Francis returned from his voyage to the Holy Land in 1220. The Franciscan friars founded a monastery here in 1223.

An island of a primarily rural nature where fruits and vegetables are cultivated. A pleasant excursion gives you the chance to admire a charming example of the Venetian countryside.

A long island bordering Venice on the southwest formerly called Spinalonga, it became known as Giudecca because of its numerous Jewish inhabitants. In 1534 the great Michelangelo, exiled from Florence, lived here for a while. Its most important monument is the Chiesa del Redentore (Church of the Redeemer), designed by the architect Andrea Palladio (1577). In July of each year a votive pontoon bridge is built across the Giudecca Canal from the Zattere to the church. The evening before the Redentore holiday, this very large canal is illuminated and filled with many differe nt boats decorated with Venetian lanterns, culminating in a magnificent fireworks display. We can arrange for you to be a partecipant as well as an observer of the unique spectacle.

A modern island, quite elegant and famous for its white-sand beaches and for its "Murazzi," the stone barriers that protect Venice from the sea. It is the site of an International film festival.

This small island across the San Marco Bacino from Piazza San Marco is known for the church of the same name, also designed by Palladio, with a white facade, perimeter walls faced in green, and two lighthouse towers.
San Lazzaro degli Armeni An important center of Armenian culture which is administered by an order of monks founded in 1717. The monastery includes a library containing precious manuscripts and a printing press dating from 1796 which produces books in thirty-six different languages.

The Pellestrina littoral is a narrow spit of land formed by a reef separating the lagoon from the Adriatic Sea. It is reached by continuing past San Giorgio, the Giudecca, San Clemente, and Poveglia, along the coasts of Malamocco and Alberoni. This itinerary can be extended to include the city ot Chioggia.

Known as "Little Venice" because of its urban structure and also for the architectural beauty of its palaces along the Vena Canal and on the Corso del Popolo and the Piazzetta Vigo.
